Happy Thanksgiving to all our Donors and Supporters!

Happy Thanksgiving!

To all our donors and supporters:

This is the time of the year for reflection, where we all need to take stock of our lives and give thanks for all our blessings and appreciate togetherness through family.

We at Asayo’s Wish are thankful for all of our donors and supporters who believe in the work that we do in Uganda Kaberamaido. Together, we are changing lives by educating orphaned/disadvantaged children and by improving a devastated community by helping disadvantaged women become self-reliant.

We are greatly blessed and privileged by the opportunity to bring hope to vulnerable victims of war, disease and poverty in Kaberamaido. We thank you for your trust in us and for so enriching our lives.

Thanksgiving is about more than turkeys and history...  It's a time to reflect and give thanks for our good fortune.  And here at Asayo’s Wish, we have a lot to be thankful for:

1. First, we're thankful for all the wonderful donors (individual and corporate) who fund us and help keep our doors open. It is so inspiring to see new gifts enter our system each time, and we've been blown away by projects--that our donors have supported ( an example is Brigid’s Blue Project for the Medical Clinic. We thank Brigid for her efforts and Connecticut college for allowing her to work with us and complete this outstanding project … Click this link to view a short clip about Brigid's Blue Book Project at AWF

2. We are thankful for Trivani Foundation for being a committed partner from the beginning… Trivani has believed in us from the start, and has been invaluable in pointing us towards partnerships, start-up funds, and mentors. Trivani has enabled us to help the children and women in Kaberamaido Uganda grow stronger, safer, and more self-sufficient each year. Trivani truly makes our work possible and helps us keep our door open. We salute you!

3. We are thankful for Security Metrics, who awarded us a $25,000 grant which we used to purchase a Brick Making Machine and funded useful life building skills activities for the children (e.g. agriculture, goat rearing, poultry, weaving, tailoring, and carpentry)… skills that can help them earn a sustainable income in their adult life.  We also learned during our visit to their offices, their employees are pretty awesome too.

4. We are thankful for The Ashton Family Foundation, who awarded us a $7,000 grant which we used to purchase a Grinding Mill, Ground Nut Grinding Machine and constructed a house which holds both machines. The Grinding Mill is part of our self-sufficiency initiative; it is helping us create a sustainable livelihood for the foundation.

5. We are thankful for Campbell Scientific, for their donation of $3,000.00 which we used to pay for higher education and vocational training for the older children (16-18) in boarding schools.

6. To all those in our Child Sponsorship Programs… You continue to be a source of life and support for the children. Your generosity has blessed the children greatly. Your support has allowed the children to receive care at the orphanage and to continue to thrive. We thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, and actions. The children think of you fondly and often, you are in their prayers nightly.

7. We are thankful for our amazing college interns and volunteers, who help us with every aspect of our organization and believe so passionately in our work (Brigid  OGorman, Lyndsi Hardcastle, Abigail Kreitler, Amy Lewallen, and Stefanie Hinman). You gave your time which shows your thoughtfulness and effort.  You let the children and community of Kaberarmido know that they are not forgotten and that their needs too are worth your time. THANK YOU!

8. We are thankful for all of our corporate partners, who help us, expand our reach in an effort to spread the word about our mission and expand opportunities for even more children and women living below the poverty level.

9. We are thankful for our board of directors (Gwen Robertson, Leslie Louw, Philip Snelgrove and Andrea GoodHeart) under whose guidance and support we continue to thrive.  Your sincere belief in our cause, thoughtful decision-making, and wise advice are the backbone of Asayo’s Wish and I look forward to working closely with you as our operations expand over the coming years.

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, 'thank you,' that would suffice” - Meister Eckhart

Here are some words of gratitude in the children's own words…

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but tolive by them." -John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Warmest wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving,

Sarah Asayo
