Progress

Things are progressing slowly but surely here. The new nurse and I entered allllllllll the medicine we have in the pharmacy into the computer system so the Doc can prescribe it easier. I think it was the first time she has ever touched a computer so we had to teach her some computer basics, but she caught on quickly, and with practice she will be a pro. That is the one thing I am a little worried about. This new system is awesome and simple and wonderfully convenient, but will people actually take the time to use it and learn to operate computers? We want to schedule time for all the workers/managers to practice. Maybe give them sentences to type or something. Brigid and I also started entering all of the kids old health records they kept in blue books into the computer. That has been really fun. The kids love getting their picture taken and measured and everything. And it is a good feeling to put all this talk of a new record keeping system into action now. I feel great and its not even my project! I can only imagine how fulfilling this must be for Brig. Between working in the clinic all day, playing with the chitlins all night, and everything in between, the time is flying! We will be packing up to come home in no time! I have mixed feelings about that. Brigid managed to get TONS of donations from people which is awesome so the place is really starting to improve. The builders started on the new bathrooms for the boys and some other people are working on fixing this huge mosquito/falling hazard hole in the ground by filling it and covering it up. We taught some of the kids how to do puzzles and they loved it! They would keep working on them all day if we didn't make them stop and change activities. They are so bright and full of life! The phrase "kuri dogi" has come in handy-meaning dont hit-as some of the kids are still learning that violence is not the answer . Teaching is becoming really fun for me as I get more used to the students and they get more used to my accent! I really love teaching.

Well, thats the update for now. Let me know if I left anything out that you want to know about.
