… a poem on behalf of the orphaned children …

Dear sponsors and friends,

I wish I could mean as much to you
each minute of the day
As you have meant, my dear sponsor,
to me.

I wish I could brush the gray out of your skies
and leave them only blue;

as you have done for me

I wish I could say the kindly things
that I so oft have read in your letters,
And feel that I could revive your soul
the way that mine you've reawaken.

 I wish I could give back the joy and hope
that you have given me,
Yet that were wishing you a need

I hope will never be;

I wish I could make you feel
as blessed as I, who travel on
Undaunted in the darkest hours
with you to lean upon.

I'm wishing at this Christmas time
that I could but repay
A portion of the gladness
that you've spread in my life;

And could I have one wish this Christmas,
this only would it be:
that God may send you

the sort of friend/advocate that 

YOU have been to ME.
